Why did you decide to study abroad?DSC_0677
To remove myself from my comfort zone and see the world through a different lens.

What surprised you most about your host country?
How nice and welcoming the people were.  I expected to encounter some anti-American sentiment, but it wasn’t an issue at all.

What was your housing like?
I lived in a large apartment with seven guys.  We had two kitchens, five bedrooms, a balcony, and entirely too much fun.

What is your favorite memory from abroad?
I traveled to Jordan for fall break and visited Petra.  It is honestly the most beautiful place I have ever seen.  I almost had to sit down and gather myself.

What’s your number one piece of advice for a student looking to do a program similar to yours?
Take any and all opportunities to interact with the local culture.  Making friends in foreign countries is easier than you think.  Don’t leave without establishing a few (at least) meaningful relationships with people from your host country (what else is Facebook for??).
